MRI results came back and showed that the swelling on the brain is less than they expected which is a great sign for Graham!
The doctors are 99% sure that he has a strain of Strep called Group B that is extremely rare but not contagious and spinal meningitis. To confirm they will have to do a spinal tap but have not been able to as his blood is not clotting properly. They have determined to go ahead and treat as if this is a for sure and are medicating appropriately
Lastly, they have confirmed that he did have a stroke that was caused by a blood clot from the bacterial infection and that is what is impacting the right side of his body.
He will be in ICU in isolation until they can confirm that he has no other contagious viruses and this will be at least 2 days and will be in the hospital for at least a couple of weeks. Right now the hospital has a limit of two people in the waiting room so it is best to call the room first.
They are so grateful for all of your prayers!

So glad to hear about the MRI results. I know a stroke diagnosis seems overwhelmingly terrible, but it will be okay. His young age is a plus - his brain will reroute signals more easily at such a young age and he'll have plenty of recovery time. I firmly believe that he will astound us all with his strength and ability to recover. Hang in there Jacque & Bo!! Graham, I'm prayin' for ya buddy!
ReplyDeleteJacque and Bo- I am praying for Graham, as well as for the two of you. I am praying that God will heal Graham completely and that you will feel his peace during this frightening time. God Bless, Hannah Chan

ReplyDeleteWe are all praying for you all in Richmond. I have seen miracles occur as my residents who are only young at heart recover from a stroke so I know that little Graham will do so well. Love you guys!

Graham and your whole family are in our prayers constantly. We pray that Graham will recover quickly and know that God is with all of you.
ReplyDeleteI love you both so much and your precious family. I'm doing all I can with the prayer chain and sent it to my whole family. Erin sent it along to the Asbury Seminary chain so you have an entire army praying to God for Graham. You're constantly in my thoughts and even though it seems bleak now, there is always a positive, even if it takes a while to find it. (Psalm 30:5)
